We’d like to thank Joel from Florida for sending in a picture of what he says is, “My 9,400 LB rubber band ball, Megaton.”
Joel’s ball, according to various reports, is the largest one ever created and is featured in the 2008 Guinness Book of World Records. The rubber band novelty used to be hidden away under a tarp in Joel’s driveway. More than six feet tall, it contains around 700,000 rubber bands and is now owned by Ripley’s Believe it or Not.
This is a neat kind of project and highlights one more interesting way to make use of the rubber band. It is also a great rainy day task. If the weather has got you feeling a little low, start wrapping a few rubber bands around a crumpled up piece of paper or a minature ball. Keep wrapping until the bands are securely in place. Before long, you’ll find you have your very own rubber ball!
We’d like to thank Deborah O, the winner from our August 29th blog post. She will receive a free prize pack and Bandology T-shirt. Thank you for being here and participating in our “Stretch the Limits of Alliance Rubber Bands” contest!! Remember to comment below!
