HOT SPRINGS, AR., May 18, 1998 – Alliance Rubber Company has acquired the Rotex shipping, mailing, and tape line from Esselite Corp. for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition is a natural extension of Alliance Rubber’s product offerings, the company said.
Privately held Alliance Rubber, a manufacture and supplier of rubber bands, purchased the Rotex mailing products division, inventory and brand names of Naturewise and Attention Mailer, according to Wanda Hughes, Alliance Rubber managing director.
The rubber firm expanded into paper products to “increase our product offerings to our existing customers,” Hughes said. “We expect the new products to increase sales, but as yet it’s too hard to guess how much.” The company generates annual sales between $25 and $30 million.
Naturewise is a mailing and paper product made from recycled materials, she said, “and the Attention Mailer is a bright colored paper board mailer that gets priority attention without the price of overnight service.” The company will add the paper products to its current band, packaging supplies and equipment lines.
Alliance expected on May 18 to begin shipping Rotex products to the retail and commercial stationary markets, packaging market, college bookstores and mailing industry, she said.
