How to Tie-Dye Using the Bucket Method

Wednesday, July 29, 2020
As we covered in the first episode of our Tie-Dying Tips Series: Tie-Dying is back again! The DIY craze really took off this year thanks to social media influencers. Tik tok stars and Youtubers started creating easy DIY videos to teach others how to create their own tie-dye sweatpants, tie-dye crop tops, and even tie-dye face masks!

When you can’t leave your house, you can usually find what you need at home to create a unique tie-dye work of art.

To tie-dye using the dip (or bucket) method - all you need is an article of clothing, fabric dye (or food coloring), Alliance’s Tie-Dye Rubber Bands, salt or vinegar (based on the fabric you’re using), protective gloves, a bucket (or large mason jar), and a safe workspace.

We chose very bright colors the first episode, but this time we wanted to incorporate colors that were a little more muted for everyday wear (even in your adult life)!

You’ll find that the bucket method is fast and simple. Along with Alliance Tie-Dye Rubber Bands and the other tie-dying tools you need, this can be a fun DIY craft while stuck at home.
