Product Profile: Non-Latex Rubber Bands

During his appearance on KATV this week, Jason Risner explained that 3-5% of the population suffers from latex allergy reactions. While the exact cause of latex allergies is unknown, it is believed that repeated exposure to latex and rubber products may stimulate symptoms.

There are three types of latex reactions: Irritant contact dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis and immediate allergic reaction (latex hypersensitivity). WebMD goes more in depth on each of these reactions.

It’s best to not knowingly trigger any of these reactions, but sometimes a rubber band is the only item that can get a job done.

Cue the non-latex rubber band.
