How to Grow Sprouts in a Jar Using a Rubber Band

Tuesday, September 22, 2015

Did you know that growing sprouts is easy? Sure, you can buy sprouts at your grocery store, but growing them is actually easier than you think. All you need is something to sprout, a glass jar, a cloth and a rubber band.

First you will need to fill a glass bowl with lukewarm water and 1 teaspoon of salt. Then you will need to put the seeds in the bowl and let it sit for a number of hours. Check out the germination chart below to find out how long you need to soak your seeds for. After you have let the seeds soak for the designated time, transfer them to the jar and fill it up with lukewarm water. Then cover the jar with your cloth and put a rubber band over it.

Put the jar upside down, so that the water can drain and air can circulate. After you have let the jar sit for a while, remove the rubber band and cloth and drain the remainder of the water. Rinse the seeds and shake the jar up. You will then fill with water again, replace the cloth and invert the jar. You will do this a few times per day until the sprouts are ready.
